PlugSuit & Afloat known problem: Large number of application crashes while PlugSuit is active.
It might happen that on certain systems, especially after system updates, most applications begin to crash as soon as they're launched. This can happen when PlugSuit is installed and turned on. This is often fixed by reinstalling the latest Mac OS X Combo Update, or by disabling and removing PlugSuit.
This document helps performing the following steps:
- Disabling PlugSuit so that applications no longer crash when opened.
- Fixing the problem by uninstalling PlugSuit or reinstalling the latest Combo Update.
Preventing applications from crashing when opened.
To prevent applications from crashing when opened, disable PlugSuit:
- From any application that does not crash, choose > System Preferences….

In System Preferences, choose PlugSuit.
In the PlugSuit preferences pane, choose Disable.
Removing the cause of the crash.
You can remove the cause of the crash by removing PlugSuit, or by reinstalling the latest Mac OS X Combo Update.
It is recommended that you try reinstalling the Combo Update first. You can find the latest combo update and instructions for reinstalling at the Apple Downloads web site. After reinstalling and restarting your Mac, you can use the above steps, but click Enable, to try re-enabling PlugSuit again.
After reinstalling a Combo Update, you might need to reinstall any subsequent software update that was released after the Combo Update, such as Security Updates or other Apple system software updates.
If the above fails, you can also remove PlugSuit completely from your computer:
Redownload and open the PlugSuit installer: download it.
In the Installer's main window, click Remove, then Remove PlugSuit….
You might need to log out and log back in for uninstalling to complete.
