Compatibility between different Mover versions.

Different versions of Mover have different capabilities. This page shows which features are available, and by which Mover versions.

General compatibility tips.

All versions and variants of Mover preserve backward compatibility (that is, with previous versions) and cross-compatibility (that is, all different Mover variants are compatible with one another).

In general, when a new version introduces a feature, it will work with that version or newer of Mover, regardless of its variant. Mover variants that share features have the same version. (For example, open source Mover at version 2.0.3 has the same features as Mover+ 2.0.3.) Also, Mover is generally flexible and will fail gracefully if you try to use a feature with an older version that doesn't support it. (For example, if you try to share a bookmark from Mover+ to Mover 1.0, it will bounce back with no harm done on either side.)

Feature compatibility information.

The following is a list of all free Mover, Mover+ and open source Mover features, including which versions provide them. (If only the version is specified, then any Mover variant with that version or later provides that feature.)

Sharing channels.

Sharing items via Wi-Fi: all versions.
Sharing items via Bluetooth: since version 2.0.

Shared item kinds.

The following items are generally available in all versions:

Sharing photos: all versions.
Sharing contacts: all versions.
Sharing contacts with empty phone and e-mail labels (eg. no 'home' or 'office'): since version 1.0.3. (Due to a bug, sharing with previous versions caused a crash on the receiving side.)

The following items are only available in newer versions:

If you try to send an item of this kind to previous versions of Mover, the slide will bounce back to the sender, but no item will appear on the recipient's table.

Sharing bookmarks: since version 2.0.
Sharing text clippings: since version 2.0.

User interface features.

Action menu on 'Edit' and press-and-hold: since version 1.0.3.
In-app item content previews: since version 1.0.3.
Warning on item deletion if not saved elsewhere: since version 2.0. (Note that previous versions always saved items elsewhere.)
Send by E-mail: since version 2.0 and only on iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
