Yes, of course, hubris must be avoided at all costs! I'm proud to say that I have been completely successful in eliminating hubris from my life.

It would be nice to read the Bible in the original. Except that we don't have "the original," if in fact anything that could be called an "original" ever existed. So, we are all left with the only alternative of reading copies and translations. If you're reading the Greek, then you are depending on the definitions and meanings of the Greek words as taught to you by your mother, or professors, or books on Greek written by others. If you are reading an English or other language translation your dependency on the presumably hubris-less efforts of others is even more pronounced. My point? Simply that there is no way to avoid the bias of others' points of view as they have taught us and prepared our present biblical texts. So why not a "conservative" translation of the Bible? I don't see it as any great evil. I am called upon to comment on your emphasis that "right wing ideologues" are somehow more ideologically extreme than their liberal counterparts. It seems to me that American conservatism attempts to fall back to basic principles whereas liberal ideologues operate within highly developed philosophical schemes of relativistic values and secular humanism. Between the two, I would say that the liberals are obviously the bigger ideologues. Thank you for bringing the Conservapedia effort to my attention. Perhaps I shall contribute.
